I feel like I should probably do some reviews for the books that I’ve read for my challenge.

Here’s the Story by Maureen McCormick–I read this book over two Friday nights.  I feel like I got a more complete picture of the woman who used to play Marcia Brady and how that one role has impacted the rest of her life.  Most of us are lucky to not have that teenager we used to be following us around–either because that teenager was so awkward or that teenager was far more perfect than we are as adults.  I can’t imagine having myself held up to an image of perfection throughout my life, but that’s just one of the struggles that Maureen McCormick has had to surmount.

Old School by Tobias Wolff–This novel was another quick read for me.  I felt inspired to grab novels by the authors mentioned in this book, but I am very glad that I did not abandon this book for something else.  Although, I was not a fan of the last 20 or 30 pages, after the narrator grows up, because I feel that they took away from the story.  However, when I grow up, I may feel differently about those pages.

February 28, 2009–The Witch of Portobello by Paulo Coelho–I really enjoyed this novel.  I think it took me less than a week to read.  It only took me that long because I wasn’t able to read every day.  It’s really short and a very good read.  It seemed like the words revealed themselves to me rather than me merely reading them.  This novel is about the spiritual journey of one woman, but it doesn’t feel like a normal coming of age story.
